Captain is coming along well (: Advertisement assets complete. Ready to animate tomorrow.
Apart from my robot captain, which will be made in after effects.

Now on to designing a website.

Things to do:
- Market research on who actually wanted the captain back.
- Photographs of chicken dippers.
- Assets of parrot (like above)
- Assets of polar bear.
- A sinister feel to the chicken dipper (along the lines of sinister polar bear for adult interest).
- Colour palette of website.
- Font style of the website.
- Page list eg. Home, chicken dipper, fish finger, frozen vegetables, contact us.

I CAN'T FIT ANYTHING ON MY STICK.

We're doing well. We've finished our R&D file. ALL of my assets bar one are done. Just looking to create the heart that pumps blood.
I have created 10 seconds of animation of my 30 seconds (I think. I hope. If it's more we have a problem on our hands.) In which a crowd jiggles about a bit protesting then Pamela Anderson comes in, waves her glorious legs around in the air and says her quote which is approximately 5 seconds long. This is all kinetic typography-ied. That all moves off to the left (I've had to cut out her pulling the statue of Colonel Sanders down for this...) in order to make room for "SADLY, the main ingredient is" this all rotates on an axis in the bottom left corner and BAM "Cruelty" comes up. Which accentuating white lines.


God I'm excited to see this finished.


Above is the finished articles of the first 6 letter of my alphabet. I think I need to make the strokes on "C" and "D" 1px thicker.

A Lot of Updates

I'm going to Boston this weekend. I hope to take some pictures in and around the area. I plan to visit:

> the stump, have a look inside and climb to the top (ish). Looking for some photos to base research around for a small stained glass window project.

> the high street. Some street shots on slow shutter speeds.

> the park. For a winter selection of pretty pictures to use instead of my face on things like this.

> the guildhall. I'm not sure why but it sounds interesting.

> maud foster windmill. IT STILL WORKS.

Things I have actually got to do?

• Essay in Design and Photography in context.
• Essay in Analysing and Working in the Media Industry.
• CV and analysis in Analysing and Working in the Media Industry.
• Finish typography project in Design (1 research board and finished product).
• Finish creating assets in Digital Media, record narration and fit together animation with narration accordingly.
• Finish Birds Eye rebranding (billboard, advertisement, finished net of product, 3 mood/research boards, prints of website design).
• Start and finish 6 pages (3 double page spreads) about a guy and his limericks in Design.

All by mid December.

So I took a little wander up steep hill for the first time. I've always avoided it because no matter how beautiful the cathedral is it's photographed too many times. However, I was in possession of a camera and wanted to do something productive. I went to visit the castle but it was closed and instead I am going to try again another day for the gruesome tales it has to tell.

I had a small look around the cathedral, I listened to a prayer and thought about the sheer amazing aspect that this building is still standing. I find cathedrals, churches and chapels so tranquil. I'm not a believer of God but the whole structure leaves me inspired. 
My travels left me thinking about stained glass and what fun I could have with this and photography.

Not the best pictures I've ever taken but consider it a practise for a new side project.

First attempt at a .Gif file and progress with KFC project

Yesssss. Little slow because the frames per second were a little high. But ultimately.. I'm impressed.


Also, I'm thinking of using this image as a starting point for my own drawing and "adaption" of Pamela Anderson in our work.

The idea is to zoom out of the KFC work place after the authentic "Finger-Lickin good" slogan and into a crowd of angry protesters. Where Pammy Anderson will be sat looking seductive as usual brandishing these words and speaking " Sadly, the main ingredient is cruelty" before progressing with our American narration describing the efforts to pull down the bust of colonel Sanders in Kentucky.

And so.. a few hours later... I have this (:
That I made completely in after effects. Ready to be animated.

Our Research and Development files need to be completed in a couple of weeks even if our actual animation has a little while longer. So along with the videos I've posted already to do with kinetic typhography there are some other things to consider.
A link to http://www.peta2.com/outthere/o-itsofficial.asp where I found signatures that I can replicate for decorative purposes in my section of animation. Obviously what is above which was taken from Pamela Anderson's own campaign against the meat industry.

Kentucky Fried Chicken

So Dave is a genius and comes up with Kentucky Fried Chicken and links me to http://www.kentuckyfriedcruelty.com/ 

This is the perfect place to start for an anti-ad. Having enthused ideas of Coca Cola and its detrimental problems to the planet to McDonalds and it's ever growing publicity (and fan base's waist line) we settled that KFC is quite a dark horse.

Everyone is aware of it's cruelty to chickens, worldwide, yet incredibly everyone forgets (myself included). Why do we forget? When celebrities such as P!NK and Pamela Anderson drive PETA home like there's no tomorrow. I don't know. But our aim is to create the anti-ad that people will remember for its simplistic but real view and humorous (though possibly sadistic) animation.

"Can't BEAT that taste" - credit to Dave Jamieson again.

WHO has an american accent? AND/OR knows of someone with an american accent?

We want this effect speech.. informative/advertising/calm. Obviously contrasting with our message.


We've been looking into typography and animation in figures. So keep your eyes out for any updates on the creation/drawing side because they'll be going up on here too.

Takes you back to the pokemon days! Relatively simple to create... time consuming I imagine. But mainly After Effects rotating and stroke tool can be used for moving lines, or even just create those as a separate layer aspect in Photoshop.
I assume the video footage at the end is similar to what we created with the blue screen... obviously without the blue screen and just transferred into After Effects as footage.

Anti Ad

An anti-ipod ad from vimeo. Uploaded... by me, because the idea of anti advertising is crucial to our work. What we will anti advertise is a mystery. But, in the mean time, can we create this with the video footage skills we learnt in class today? I would say so. Yay for self improvement via after effect skillzzzz.

Worldwide Wildlife Fund.

-Different to the "Enjoi" label but so similar. So well known it is not mixed up.

-Great reason behind a simple logo.

-No colour so no difficulty in printing or screening anywhere.



My first inspiration idea for printed typography and font.

-Fun, almost childish.

-Freedom to create anything you like for any letter.

-Not practical for large amounts of text. More suitable for titles.

More suitable for large bodies of text.

-The swirls can be extended or contracted in order to fit in with the overall body of text.

-The colours are eyecatching against a black background.

-The colours distract from the point that the text is actually very basic and simple.
